Fireplace Installers in Cape Town You Can Trust

Winters in Cape Town are cold, damp and windy — and nothing changes a home like a properly installed fireplace. Fire Flame Installers is a Cape Town-based team that has installed hundreds of wood-burning, gas and closed-combustion fireplaces in homes from Constantia to Durbanville. We are not a marketplace or a middleman: the people who quote your job are the people who arrive on site.

We handle the complete job — supply of the unit (or installation of a fireplace you already own), flue and chimney work, wall framing for built-in and wall-mounted units, gas lines with a Certificate of Compliance, and the final safety inspection. Every installation is done to SANS clearance requirements, which keeps your home insurance valid and your family safe.

Fireplace Installation Prices in Cape Town (2026)

These are honest working ranges from our recent Cape Town installations. Every home is different — a double-storey with a long flue run costs more than a ground-floor install with an existing chimney — but this is what most clients pay:

Installation typeTypical price
Installation labour — freestanding unit, single-storey, existing flue routeR3,500 – R4,800
Freestanding wood fireplace installation (unit excluded, flue included)R6,000 – R18,000
Built-in / insert fireplace installation (flue + builder work)R18,000 – R45,000
Gas fireplace installation (gas line + CoC included)R12,000 – R35,000
Complete project — mid-range unit + flue + installationR18,000 – R75,000
Gas Certificate of Compliance (first appliance)± R950

A double-storey installation typically adds R1,300 – R3,700 for scaffolding and the longer flue run. For a full cost breakdown by fireplace type, read our guide on the cost of installing a fireplace or the 2026 fireplace price guide. For an exact figure, request a quote below — it costs nothing.

How Our Installation Process Works

  1. Free quote. Send us your details and a photo or two of the space. We confirm the unit, flue route and price — most quotes go out the same day.
  2. Site check. For built-in and gas installations we do a quick site visit to measure clearances, wall structure and the flue path.
  3. Supply. Choose from our stocked brands or have us install a unit you already own. We deliver to site.
  4. Installation. Most freestanding installations are done in a single day. Built-in and double-sided units take 2–3 days including building work and finishing.
  5. Compliance & handover. Gas installations are signed off with a Certificate of Compliance. We test-fire the unit, walk you through operating it, and leave the site clean.
  6. Aftercare. We service what we install — including annual chimney sweeping and maintenance.

Fireplace Brands We Supply & Install

We stock and install South Africa’s most trusted fireplace brands, and we know the quirks of each one: Northern Flame, Heeta, Hydrofire, Sentinel, Liseo, Charnwood, Godin, Kratki, Invicta, Canature and more.

Not sure which brand fits your space and budget? Tell us the room size and we’ll shortlist two or three options with installed prices — no pressure, no upselling.

Areas We Cover in Cape Town

We install fireplaces across the greater Cape Town area, including the Southern Suburbs (Constantia, Claremont, Newlands, Rondebosch, Tokai, Wynberg), the South Peninsula (Fish Hoek, Kalk Bay, Noordhoek), the Northern Suburbs (Durbanville, Bellville, Brackenfell, Kraaifontein), the Atlantic Seaboard (Camps Bay, Sea Point, Hout Bay), Blouberg & West Coast (Table View, Milnerton, Parklands, Melkbosstrand), and the Helderberg & Winelands (Somerset West, Strand & Gordon’s Bay, Stellenbosch, Paarl, Franschhoek).

Outside these areas? Ask anyway — and we already go much further. Our team does regular fireplace installation in Hermanus and the Overberg, and our fireplace installers in Worcester cover the Breede Valley and Boland. We also run scheduled trips for fireplace and braai installation along the Garden Route, and for everywhere else we offer fireplace and braai delivery across South Africa.

Fireplace Installation FAQs

Installation labour for a freestanding unit on a single-storey home with an existing flue route runs R3,500 – R4,800. Built-in and insert installations cost R18,000 – R45,000 including flue and building work. A complete project — mid-range fireplace plus flue plus installation — typically lands between R18,000 and R75,000.

Yes. Any fixed gas appliance in South Africa legally requires a CoC issued by a registered installer — your insurance depends on it. We arrange it as part of every gas installation; it costs about R950 for the first appliance.

Most freestanding fireplace installations are completed in a single day. Built-in, insert and double-sided fireplaces take 2–3 days, because they involve building work, plastering and finishing around the unit.

Yes — this is one of the most common jobs we do. A twin-wall insulated flue system can be routed through the roof or an external wall, so nearly any home can have a wood-burning fireplace without an existing chimney.

Wood gives you the real flame, the smell and the lowest running cost if you can source dry hardwood. Gas gives you instant heat at the push of a button with no ash. We install both — see our full gas vs wood comparison for the honest trade-offs.

Both. Most clients buy from our range because we price competitively and guarantee the match between unit and flue. But if you already own a fireplace, we’re happy to do an installation-only job — we’ll check the unit first and tell you if anything is missing.

Yes — we cover the greater Cape Town area as standard and regularly travel to the Winelands, Boland and Overberg for installations. Travel is quoted upfront, so there are no surprises.

Installed correctly, absolutely. We install to SANS clearance requirements, use insulated flue sections where the pipe passes ceilings or walls, and fit spark arrestors. An annual chimney sweep (R150 – R375) keeps it that way — we offer that service too.
