Gas fireplaces in Cape Town give you a real flame at the turn of a knob, with no wood to carry and no ash to clean. Our registered gas installers fit built-in, freestanding and insert units, then sign the work off with a gas CoC.

Send us photos of the room, where the fireplace will go and where a gas bottle could stand outside. We will tell you which units suit the space and how the gas line would run.
A gas fireplace suits homes where wood is a hassle. There is no wood to store, no ash and no sweeping the hearth. It lights in seconds, and many units work with a remote or a thermostat. In a flat or townhouse, gas is often the only way to have a real flame.
Most Cape Town homes run gas fireplaces on LPG from bottles outside. The bottle position, the gas line and the flue or ventilation all have to meet SANS 10087. That is why our registered installers plan the gas side together with the fireplace, not as an afterthought.
For wood-burning options, see our fireplace installation page. Still deciding? Read our gas vs wood-burning fireplaces comparison.

Every home is set up differently, so we quote after seeing the space. These are the things that change the price.
The unit. Built-in, freestanding, insert or wall-hung, and the size of the fire.
Flued or flueless. A flued unit needs a flue through the wall or roof. A flueless unit needs the right room size and ventilation.
Gas line length. The further the bottles are from the fireplace, the longer the gas line and the more work to run it neatly.
Building and finishes. A new chimney breast, cladding or a mantel adds building work to the install.
Converting an old fireplace. A gas insert in an existing wood fireplace may need the chimney swept and lined first.
1. Photos and a chat. Send photos of the room and the outside wall, and tell us how you want to use the fire.
2. Site visit. We check the room size, ventilation, flue route and where the gas bottles can stand safely outside.
3. Choose the unit. We help you pick a unit that suits the space, then confirm the price in writing.
4. Build and prepare. Any wall, surround or flue work is done first, so the fireplace goes into a finished opening.
5. Gas line and fitting. The bottle cage, regulator and gas line go in, the fireplace is fitted and every joint is leak tested.
6. Test, CoC and handover. We light the fire, check the flame and controls, issue the gas Certificate of Compliance and show you how it works.

Send us photos of the room and we will suggest gas units that fit.

Flued gas fireplace. A flue takes the fumes outside. The best choice for bigger fires and closed rooms.
Flueless gas fireplace. No flue needed, so it can go where a flue cannot. The room must be big enough and well ventilated.
Gas insert. Fits inside an existing brick fireplace, so you keep the old surround and lose the draughts.
Gas log set. Realistic logs in an open fireplace for the look of a wood fire. It gives less heat than a closed unit.
Double-sided fireplace. Seen from two rooms, or from inside and the patio. See our built-in fireplace and cladding page for the wall around it.
Yes. A fixed gas installation must be signed off with a gas Certificate of Compliance by a registered installer. Our team is registered, so we issue the CoC when we finish. You will also need it when you sell the house.
Yes. A flueless unit needs no chimney, and a flued unit can often vent straight through an outside wall. We check the room size and ventilation to see which is safe for your space.
Outside, in a ventilated spot away from doors, windows, drains and electrical points. We usually fit a bottle cage and run the gas line neatly to the fireplace.
Yes. We clean the burner, check the ignition and pilot, test for leaks and check the flame. A yearly service before winter keeps the fire lighting first time. We also work on units other companies installed.
Often, yes. A gas insert or gas log set can go into an existing fireplace once the chimney is swept and checked. We tell you on site if yours is suitable.
