Description
Classic lines, solid cast iron and a fire you can turn up or down to suit the evening: the Hergom Craftsbury is a freestanding wood fireplace for people who want a traditional stove that simply works. It is a good match for farmhouse-style lounges, older Cape homes and anyone who loves the look of a real cast iron fireplace.
Hergom Craftsbury Wood Fireplace Features
Cast iron for lasting warmth
The Craftsbury weighs 130kg, most of it cast iron. That mass takes in heat as the fire burns and gives it back slowly, so the room stays comfortable long after the last log. Our guide to buying a cast iron fireplace explains why this matters.
Output that adjusts to the weather
The heat output runs from 7 to 11kW. On a mild autumn night you can keep a small, slow fire going; in a July cold front you can open it up for full heat. At 79.0% efficiency, it makes good use of every load of wood.
Flue options that make fitting easier
The 150 mm flue can leave from the top or the rear. A rear exit lets us run the flue straight into an existing chimney or through a wall, which is handy in older homes.
Compact footprint
At 72.9 x 60.2 x 44.7 cm, the Craftsbury fits on a standard hearth without crowding the room.
Is the Hergom Craftsbury right for your home?
Hergom rates it to heat about 67 m², which suits a small to medium lounge or a family room with a normal ceiling. High ceilings or lots of glass reduce that, so share your room size with us first. You can also browse our other freestanding fireplaces.
Installation in Cape Town
Our team supplies and installs the Craftsbury with the right flue, cowl and roof flashing for Cape wind and winter rain, and handles compliance. Read about our fireplace installation or see all Hergom fireplaces we offer.
Craftsbury FAQs
Can the Hergom Craftsbury connect to an old chimney?
In many cases, yes. The rear flue outlet makes it easier to connect to an existing chimney. We inspect the chimney first and fit a 150 mm liner where it is needed so the stove draws cleanly.
Is a Hergom fireplace good for overnight burning?
Cast iron holds heat well, so once the fire settles you can close the air down for a long, slow burn. Dry hardwood gives the best results and keeps the glass cleaner.
