Description
Few stoves are as instantly recognisable as the Petit Godin Large Round. It is the high-output model in Godin’s round family, a 10kW French cast iron multifuel stove that brings real vintage character to a room while putting out enough heat for a bigger lounge.
Petit Godin Large Round Features
Classic round body
The tall, round shape and decorative detailing have been part of the Godin look for generations. It suits farmhouse kitchens, older Cape homes and modern spaces that want one bold vintage piece.
Enamelled cast iron that holds heat
The stove is cast almost entirely from enamelled cast iron. Once warm, the body soaks up heat and gives it back slowly, so the room stays comfortable long after the fire has died down to embers.
Wood or coal, with secondary combustion
As a multifuel unit it burns wood and coal such as anthracite. Secondary combustion burns off more of the gases in the firebox, which means a cleaner flame, more heat from each load and less soot in your flue.
Is the Petit Godin right for your home?
Godin does not give us a heating area figure for this model, so use this rough guide: a 10kW stove usually suits a larger lounge or open-plan area of about 70 to 120 m2 with a normal ceiling. Small rooms will overheat, so compare our other freestanding fireplaces if your space is compact.
Godin installation in Cape Town
Our team supplies and installs the stove, with a flue, cowl and roof flashing chosen for Cape wind and winter rain, and we issue the compliance certificate. Petit Godin FAQs
Can the Petit Godin Large Round burn coal?
Yes. It is a multifuel stove made for wood and coal, including anthracite. Coal gives a long, steady burn overnight, while seasoned hardwood gives a livelier flame. Ask our team how to set the air controls for each.
Is a Godin fireplace available in South Africa?
Yes. We stock and install Godin stoves in Cape Town and can advise on delivery further afield. Let us know your area and we will confirm availability and the installation options.
Is 10kW too much for my lounge?
It depends on the room. The Petit Godin 10kW model is best in a bigger or open-plan space. In a small lounge you would run it low most of the time, which is less efficient, so we help you size it first.
