Description
For homes where winter heating is a real job, the Godin insert brings solid cast iron and a lot of heat together in one built-in unit. This 14kW wood fireplace insert weighs about 180 kg and connects to a 180 mm flue, with a choice of top or rear outlet to suit your chimney or surround.
Godin Insert 14kW Features
Cast iron that keeps warming
A cast iron insert stores heat in its mass and keeps releasing it long after the flames die down. That gives you even, comfortable warmth instead of hot and cold swings, and you load wood less often.
Plenty of output
At 14kW this is a big performer. It suits large open-plan homes, double-volume lounges and older houses with high ceilings where a smaller unit would run flat out and still leave the room cool.
Top or rear outlet
The fireplace outlet can be set to leave from the top or the rear. Top suits a straight run up an existing chimney. Rear helps when you want the flue to exit through a wall. Our team picks the route that keeps draw strong and the finish neat.
Size and weight
The unit measures 44.5 x 85 x 57.3 cm. At around 180 kg, the floor and supporting structure need to be checked before it goes in, which we do on every site visit.
Is the Godin insert right for your home?
As a rough guide, 11kW+ suits very large rooms or spaces with high ceilings, so a 14kW unit is aimed at roughly 120 m2 and more. For a normal lounge it will be too strong. Compare with other built-in fireplaces, the full Godin fireplace range, or read our Godin fireplace guide.
Installation in Cape Town
Our team designs the surround, builds and clads it, and installs the 180 mm flue with the right cowl and flashing for Cape wind and rain. See our built-in fireplace design and cladding service.
Godin Insert FAQs
Is the Godin insert suitable for an existing chimney?
It often is, if the opening is large enough and the chimney is sound. We measure the opening and plan a 180 mm liner or flue to suit.
What does top or rear outlet mean?
It means the flue collar can be fitted on the top or the back of the insert. We choose based on your chimney, wall and roof layout.
Why choose a cast iron insert?
Cast iron holds heat longer than thin steel, so the room stays warm even as the fire burns down. It is heavy and durable, built for many winters.
