Description
If your open fireplace eats wood and still leaves the lounge cold, the Hydrofire Turin is a sensible upgrade. It is a freestanding steel stove, a 12kW wood fireplace that can be turned down to about 8kW on mild nights or pushed to 16kW when a cold front rolls in. The tall, slim body takes up little floor space, yet it has the power to warm a big family room.
Hydrofire Turin Wood Fireplace Features
Closed combustion for more heat and less wood
The Turin is a closed combustion fireplace. The fire burns behind a sealed glass door, so the heat goes into your room instead of up the chimney. Hydrofire says it needs roughly a third of the wood an open fire would use for the same evening, which adds up quickly over a long Cape winter.
80% efficiency from a steel body
Rated at 80% efficiency, this steel wood burning stove turns most of each log into usable warmth. Steel heats up quickly, so the room feels the difference soon after you light it.
A tall shape that fits most lounges
The unit measures 48 x 40 x 101 cm and weighs 106 kg. The 150 mm flue leaves from the top, which keeps the install straight and simple when the flue runs up through the ceiling and roof.
Made to a European design
Hydrofire states the Turin is made in China to a European design, carries CE certification and comes with a two-year limited warranty from the supplier.
Is the Turin fireplace right for your home?
Hydrofire rates the Turin for 75 m² to 140 m², so it suits a medium to large lounge, an open-plan kitchen and living area, or a room with a higher ceiling. Very small rooms will overheat, so send us your floor size and ceiling height and we will check the fit. You can compare it with our other freestanding fireplaces or read our guide to proven Hydrofire models.
Installation in Cape Town
Our team supplies and installs the Turin with a 150 mm flue, a cowl suited to Cape wind and proper roof flashing to keep out winter rain. We take care of the compliance side too. See how our fireplace installation in Cape Town works, or browse the full Hydrofire range.
Hydrofire Turin FAQs
Is the Hydrofire Turin the same as the Torino?
No. They are two different Hydrofire models. The Turin is the bigger 12kW unit for larger rooms. If you are comparing the two, our team can explain the size and output differences and help you pick the one that suits your space.
How much wood does the Turin use?
Far less than an open hearth. Hydrofire puts it at about a third of the wood for the same heat, because the sealed firebox controls the burn and keeps the warmth in the room rather than losing it up the flue.
What flue does the Turin need?
It uses a 150 mm flue from the top outlet. We size the full flue run, cowl and flashing to your roof type and ceiling height when we quote.
