New cast iron throughout
Hydrofire says the Sparta is cast from new, non-recycled iron. The door, body and broad top are all cast iron, and the inside of the firebox is lined with cast iron plates. A cast iron fireplace warms more slowly than steel but holds and releases that heat for longer, which gives a gentle, even warmth in the room.
A useful flat top
The wide, flat top doubles as a hot plate. During load shedding it is handy for heating water or keeping food warm, so the Sparta works as a backup cooker as well as a heater. For many buyers this fireplace with cooking top is the main reason they choose it.
