The Hydrofire Ray Max G was built for exactly that job. It is an updated version of the earlier Ray Max, with a fresh look that includes square legs and a flat handle, and it pairs a high output with a large glass window so you can enjoy the fire from across the room.

High output for big spaces
This steel wood fireplace runs from 13kW up to 21kW, and Hydrofire gives it a heating area of 170 m2. That range lets you burn it hard on the coldest nights and turn it down on milder evenings, using the air vents to control how fast the wood burns.
A firebox that holds heat
The combustion chamber is lined with firebrick, which soaks up heat and keeps the fire burning hot and clean. It takes logs of up to 45 centimetres, so you spend less time cutting wood. Efficiency is 76%, which means more of the heat from each load ends up in your living space.
Simple cleaning
Clearing ash is quick thanks to the cast iron grate and a pan that lifts out. Lift the pan out, empty it outside, slide it back and you are ready to light again.
Size and flue
The Ray Max G weighs 92 kg and measures 43.5 x 68.5 x 87 cm. It connects to a 150 mm flue from the top, which keeps the pipe run straight and tidy above the stove.
