Description
Double volume ceilings and big open-plan rooms can swallow the heat from a small stove. The Hydrofire Ray Max is built for exactly those spaces. This big steel wood fireplace puts out 13 to 21kW and a wide viewing window that shows off a big fire.
Hydrofire Ray Max Fireplace Features
Power for large spaces
With a rated heating area of about 170 m2, the Ray Max is one of the stronger fires in the Hydrofire range. It brings a cold room up to temperature quickly and holds it there through the evening.
Easy loading and cleaning
- The fire brick lined chamber takes 45cm logs, so standard firewood fits.
- A cast iron grate supports the fire and lets ash fall through.
- The removable ash pan makes the morning clean-out quick.
- Air vents let you control how fast the fire burns.
Size and efficiency
The steel body measures 44.1 x 66.8 x 80.1 cm and weighs 92 kg. Efficiency is rated at 76%, and the flue connects at the top with a 150 mm outlet.
Is the Ray Max right for your home?
It suits large lounges, open-plan homes and double volume fireplace spaces where a smaller unit would struggle. In a small room it would run too hot, so tell us your room size first. See our other freestanding fireplaces, every Hydrofire fireplace we stock, or our Hydrofire buyer guide.
Installation in Cape Town
High ceilings mean a longer flue run and more care with bracing and roof flashing. Our team supplies and installs the Ray Max with the right 150 mm flue and cowl for Cape weather, and we handle compliance. Read about our fireplace installation.
