Description
Compact rooms deserve a real fire too. The Hydrofire Phoenix is a small wood fireplace that stands just 60.6 cm tall and 46.5 cm wide, yet it delivers a useful 5 to 11kW of heat. It suits a snug lounge, a main bedroom suite or a home office, and it uses wood sparingly while still giving a lively flame to watch.
Hydrofire Phoenix Fireplace Features
Solid steel construction
The Phoenix is a steel wood fireplace built from thick plate, which gives it a sturdy feel and quick warm-up. It weighs 54 kg, so it is easy to place on a standard hearth.
Three stages of combustion
Precise air controls feed three separate air supplies. Primary air enters through a vent low on the door and feeds the fire from below. Secondary air keeps the flames burning cleanly and runs down the inside of the glass as a pre-heated air wash. Tertiary air enters through holes at the back of the firebox and burns off the leftover gases. The result is 80% efficiency and a cleaner burn that meets Euro 2022 Eco-Design requirements.
Simple flue connection
A 130mm flue leaves from the top, so the usual installation is a straight run through ceiling and roof.
Is the Phoenix fireplace right for your home?
Hydrofire rates the Phoenix for about 76 m², which is a small to medium lounge or a generous bedroom. Use the lower end of the output range for mild evenings and open it up when a cold front arrives. If your living area is much larger, our guide to proven Hydrofire models compares bigger options, and you can browse all freestanding fireplaces.
Installation in Cape Town
We supply and install the Phoenix with its 130mm flue, a cowl that resists back-draught in strong wind and flashing that seals out winter rain. You get a compliance certificate when we are done. Read about our fireplace installation in Cape Town or view the full Hydrofire range.
Hydrofire Phoenix FAQs
Can I put the Phoenix fireplace in a bedroom?
Yes, a closed combustion wood fireplace with a sealed flue can go in a larger bedroom, provided clearances and ventilation are right. We check the room on site, and we always recommend a carbon monoxide alarm nearby.
Is the Hydrofire Phoenix efficient on wood?
Its 80% efficiency and tertiary burn mean more heat from each log than an open fire or an older stove. Burn dry, seasoned hardwood for the best result.
