The Hydrofire Merida (DF IT102K) is a large double sided fireplace insert for built-in installations. Set into a wall between two spaces, it shows the fire on both sides and uses a built-in fan to move warm air around. For big homes it is one of the most powerful wood units we install.

Power for big spaces
At 14.5kW with a heating area of up to 175 m², the Merida is made for large open-plan living areas, double-volume rooms or two big rooms joined by one fire. Efficiency is rated at 74%, so you get strong heat without wasting wood.
Fan assisted heat
The fan helps spread the warmth evenly so you do not get a hot spot in front of the glass and cold corners elsewhere. It needs a plug point close to the unit, which we plan into the build.
Double sided view
Glass on both faces means people on either side of the wall see the flames. It turns the fireplace into a feature for the lounge and the dining room at the same time.
Steel build
The Merida is made of steel and weighs about 140 kg. It measures 104 x 47 x 65 cm and connects to a 180 mm flue at the top.

Does the Hydrofire Merida work without electricity?
The fire burns and heats without power, but the fan stops. During load shedding you still get radiant heat through both glass faces, just less air movement.
Can I buy the Merida from Hydrofire in Cape Town and have it installed?
