Description
Got an old open fireplace or a niche you want to put to better use? The Hydrofire Bora is a closed combustion fireplace that sits low, so it slides into many existing openings and turns them into a proper heat source. It is a medium-sized unit, but with 8kW to 11kW on tap it heats far more than its size suggests.
Hydrofire Bora Wood Fireplace Features
Built for niches
The Bora measures 37.7 x 51.5 x 75 cm. Its low height is what makes it stand out, because it lets you place it in an existing fireplace opening or a built-in nook where a taller unit will not fit.
Real heat from a closed fire
A combustion fireplace burns wood behind a sealed glass door, with air controls that let you set the pace of the fire. Compared with an open fireplace, far more heat ends up in the room. The Bora is rated at 74% efficiency with an output of 8kW to 11kW, so it warms a lounge quickly and keeps it warm.
Simple steel construction
The body is steel and the flue leaves from the top through a 130 mm pipe. A slimmer flue is easier to route through a niche or an old chimney.
Is the Bora fireplace right for your home?
Hydrofire lists a heating area of about 95 m2. That suits a medium to large lounge, or an open-plan living area with a standard ceiling. See how it compares with other freestanding fireplaces, or read our guide to proven Hydrofire models.
Installation in Cape Town
Fitting a fireplace into a niche or old chimney needs care. Our team checks the opening, the existing chimney and the clearances, then installs the Bora with the right 130 mm flue, cowl and flashing for Cape weather. Bora FAQs
Can the Hydrofire Bora go inside my old fireplace?
In many homes, yes. Its low height suits existing openings. We measure the opening, check the chimney condition and confirm the clearances before we recommend it.
What is a closed combustion fireplace?
It is a wood fireplace with a sealed door and air controls. Closing the fire in gives you more heat, less smoke in the room and longer burn times than an open hearth.
