Description

When a room has high ceilings and a lot of floor to cover, the Charnwood Cove 3 is the stove our team reaches for. It is the biggest fireplace in the Cove range and also the most popular, with a curved door and a large window that puts the whole fire on show. Built on the Isle of Wight in the United Kingdom, it works as well in a farmhouse lounge as it does in a modern open plan home.

Charnwood Cove 3 Features

Heat for large and double volume spaces

Output runs from 7 to 16kW, so you can keep a gentle fire going on a mild evening or push it hard on a freezing July night. Efficiency is listed at 78.40%, which means more of each log ends up as heat in the room rather than going up the flue.

Simple control, clean glass

A single push and pull air control, called Quattro Flow, sets the burn rate. Charnwood’s Cleanburn air wash sweeps air down the inside of the glass, so the view stays clear for longer. The door glass is Schott Robax, and the handle stays cool enough to touch when you reload.

Built to last

The body is boiler plate steel with a cast iron door and top. It weighs 159 kg and measures 46 × 59 × 98 cm. Logs burn on a sliding fire bed that doubles as the ash pan, so cleaning out takes a minute. A drop down throat plate lets your sweep clean the flue through the stove.

Is the Cove 3 fireplace right for your home?

Our spec sheet gives a heating area of about 160 m², which covers most double volume lounges and large open plan living areas. In a small room it would run too hot, so compare it with smaller Charnwood fireplace models or the rest of our freestanding fireplaces. Our article on choosing a standalone fireplace covers the basics.

Installation in Cape Town

The Cove 3 takes a 180 mm flue from the top or the rear. Our team fits the flue, a wind rated cowl and proper roof flashing for Cape winters, and we sign off the installation for compliance. Find out how our fireplace installation service works, or browse the Charnwood range.

Charnwood Cove 3 FAQs

Which colours does the Cove 3 come in?

Black is standard. Charnwood also offers Almond, Gunmetal, Brown, Bronze, Pewter, Blue and Green as special order colours. These need to be ordered in advance, so speak to our team early if you want one.

Can the Charnwood Cove 3 be raised off the floor?

Yes. An optional store stand lifts the stove and gives you space below for logs. It has to be ordered with the stove, so let us know when you request your quote.

Is the Cove 3 eco friendly?

Yes. Charnwood built it to the SIA Eco Design 2022 standard and it holds a ClearSkies level 2 rating, which means it burns far cleaner than an open fire or an old stove.
