It is a flueless gas fireplace that hangs on the wall like a framed picture, with a dark mirror back panel and a bed of decorative fire glass. There is no flue to run through the roof and no brick hearth to build, which keeps the install simple and the room tidy.

Wall mounted design that saves floor space
As a wall mounted gas fireplace, the Elegance sits off the floor at the height you choose. It measures 130 x 45 x 17.3 cm and is only 17.3 cm deep, so it works in narrow lounges, bedrooms and passages where a freestanding unit would be in the way. Two wall bolts carry it, and a paper stencil comes in the box to mark the holes.
Big heat from LPG gas
The maker rates it at about 12kW and up to 147m², or 489m³ of room volume. That is a lot of warmth for a slim unit, which is why it is a popular luxury fireplace for open-plan living areas. At full flame it uses roughly 0.88 kilograms of gas an hour, so a standard gas bottle lasts well.

Is the Elegance right for your home?
Because it is flueless, room size matters both ways. The room should be at least 119 cubic metres in volume, and the maker gives 147m² as the top end. Is a flueless gas fireplace safe indoors?
Yes, when it is sized to the room and installed properly. The Elegance has an ODS safety system that cuts the gas if oxygen levels drop. Keep a little fresh air in the room, and do not fit it in a space smaller than the minimum volume.
Does the Chad-O-Chef Elegance need electricity?
No mains power is needed. The remote and receiver run on batteries, so you still have heat and flames during load shedding, which is a big plus in South African homes.
Can I choose a different stone colour?
Black fire glass comes standard. Aztec gold, azure blue and crystal clear glass can be ordered on request, so ask our team when you place your order.
