Description

Most fireplaces warm one room. The Hydrofire Ray Max B is built to warm the whole house. It is a steel boiler stove with a water jacket inside its walls: cold water flows in, picks up heat from the fire and then circulates to radiators in other rooms, so the bedrooms and passages stay warm too. Add a heat exchanger and it can help heat your hot water and cut your electricity bill.

Hydrofire Ray Max B Features

Central heating from a wood fire

The water jacket absorbs heat from the combustion chamber and carries it to one or more radiators. That spreads warmth through the home rather than leaving one hot lounge and cold rooms everywhere else. The boiler output runs from 5kW to 11kW, with a nominal output of 7.5kW.

Efficient and economical

The Ray Max B is rated at 80% efficiency, which means it is big on heat and light on wood. Fewer loads, less chopping and lower running costs through a long winter.

Sturdy steel build

Made from heavy steel, it weighs 133 kg and measures 45 x 67 x 80 cm. The 142.5 mm flue leaves from the top. Hydrofire models are imported from Europe and carry CE certification, and the Ray Max B comes with a 2 year warranty.

Is the Ray Max B right for your home?

Hydrofire gives a heating area of 120 m2 to 194 m2, so it suits medium to large homes where you want heat in more than one room. A boiler stove needs plumbing and radiators, so it works best in a renovation or a new build where pipes can be planned. Read our guide to the Hydrofire range in South Africa, or compare our other freestanding fireplaces.

Installation in Cape Town

Our team supplies and installs the Ray Max B with the right 142.5 mm flue, a cowl for Cape wind and flashing for winter rain, and we coordinate the plumbing connection to your radiators. See our fireplace installation in Cape Town service or browse the full Hydrofire fireplace range.

Ray Max B FAQs

How does a boiler stove heat other rooms?

Water in the jacket around the firebox is heated by the fire, then pumped through pipes to radiators in other rooms. Each radiator gives off heat, so the whole house warms up from one fire.

Can the Ray Max fireplace heat my hot water?

Yes, with a heat exchanger added to the system. The fire then helps heat your geyser water, which saves electricity in winter.

Do I need radiators to use the Ray Max B?

The water jacket must always be connected to a plumbed system before you light it. We plan the radiators and pipework with you before installation.
