Description
Not every home needs a big stove. The Thorma Skall II is a compact wood stove made for smaller rooms, where a large fireplace would overheat the space and take up too much floor. With a 7kW output and a footprint of just 32.8 x 42.2 cm, it brings real fire and proper warmth to cottages, flats, studies and smaller lounges.
Thorma Skall II Wood Stove Features
Sized for smaller rooms
A stove that is too big for a room is run low all the time, which wastes wood and blackens the glass. As a 7kW wood stove, the Skall II is matched to small and medium spaces, so you can run it properly and enjoy a clean, bright fire.
A compact wood fireplace
At 32.8 x 42.2 x 67.5 cm it slots into a corner, onto a small hearth or into a room with lots of doors and furniture. Its modest height also keeps it from dominating the space.
Light and easy to place
At 58 kg it is a light stove. That makes delivery and positioning simpler, and it puts less load on the floor than heavy cast iron models. We still fit it on a proper non-combustible hearth.
Standard flue size
The Skall II uses a 150 mm flue, the most common size for freestanding wood stoves. Parts are easy to source and the flue run is straightforward.
Is the Skall II right for your home?
As a rough guide, stoves of 5 to 7kW suit a small to medium lounge of about 40 to 70 m2 with a normal ceiling. For an open-plan space or a double-volume room, look at higher outputs in our freestanding fireplaces range.
Installation in Cape Town
Our team supplies and installs the Skall II with a 150 mm flue, cowl and roof flashing suited to Cape wind and winter rain, and handles compliance. See how our fireplace installation in Cape Town works, or view the full Thorma fireplace range.
Thorma Skall II FAQs
Is the Thorma Skall II big enough for my lounge?
It suits small and medium rooms. As a rough guide, that is up to about 70 m2 with a normal ceiling. If your lounge opens onto the kitchen and dining room, we may suggest a bigger stove.
Can the Skall go in a flat or townhouse?
Often, yes, as long as a flue can be run safely through the ceiling and roof or an outside wall and body corporate rules allow it. We check the route and clearances on site.
Short on space but keen on a real fire? Ask our team about the Skall II and we will check your room and flue route.
