Description
Strong heat in a tidy, modern shape is what the Sentinel Ottawa Square 12 is all about. The square firebox sits on a matching log stand, which lifts the flames to a better viewing height and keeps a supply of dry wood at hand. At 12kW it is one of the stronger models in the Sentinel line-up.
Sentinel Ottawa Square 12 Features
Modern square styling
The clean lines of the body suit contemporary interiors, while the log stand gives the unit extra height and presence in the room. It reads as a proper feature piece rather than a small box in the corner.
Multi fuel heating
As a multi fuel fireplace, the Square 12 can burn wood or coal. Coal is handy for a long, slow burn on the coldest nights, and wood gives a lively flame picture for evenings in.
Strong, durable build
The body combines cast iron and steel and weighs 142 kg, with overall dimensions of 42 x 47 x 85 cm including the log stand. Efficiency is rated at 75%, so a good share of the fuel you burn turns into heat for the room.
Is the Square 12 right for your home?
Sentinel rates it for a heating area of 172 m2. That makes it a match for large lounges, open-plan living spaces and homes with higher ceilings. In a small room it would be too much, so tell us your floor size first. See our other freestanding fireplaces or the full range of Sentinel fireplaces.
Installation in Cape Town
The 150 mm flue can leave from the top or the rear, which gives our installers flexibility around beams, walls and roof pitch. We fit the flue, cowl and flashing to handle Cape wind and winter rain, and we handle compliance. Read about our fireplace installation in Cape Town.
Sentinel Ottawa Square 12 FAQs
What does the log stand add?
It raises the fire to a more comfortable viewing height and gives you a dry, tidy place to keep logs. It also gives the fireplace more presence, which suits a large room.
Can the Sentinel square fireplace burn coal?
Yes. It is a multi fuel unit, so it takes wood or coal. Many owners use wood for the evening and add coal for a slower, longer burn later on.
