Description
For large open-plan homes, the Sentinel Ottawa Marvic 950 brings a broad wall of fire and plenty of heat in one steel unit. It is a single-sided, 15kW wood fireplace with a wide front, so the flames fill your view from across the room, and it can be used freestanding or set into a frame.
Sentinel Ottawa Marvic 950 Features
A wide, inviting fire
At 95 cm across, the Marvic 950 is wider than most stoves. That width gives a long, low flame picture that suits a family room where people gather on winter evenings, and it also takes generous loads of wood.
Plenty of power
As a 15kW wood fireplace, it has the strength to warm large lounges, double-volume spaces and open-plan living and dining areas. Sentinel lists it at 80% efficiency, so a good share of each log becomes useful heat instead of going up the flue.
Flexible placement
You can stand it on a hearth as a freestanding wood fireplace, or build it into a frame for a more built-in look. The steel body measures 53.5 x 95 x 48 cm, weighs about 165 kg and connects to a 150 mm flue at the top.
Is the Marvic 950 right for your home?
Sentinel rates it to heat about 144 m2, which is a big lounge or a full open-plan ground floor. It would be too much for a small room, so tell us your room size and ceiling height and we will confirm the fit. You can also compare our other freestanding fireplaces side by side.
Installation in Cape Town
Our team supplies and installs the Marvic with a 150 mm flue, a cowl suited to Cape wind and proper roof flashing to keep winter rain out. We check hearth size and clearances to walls and furniture before work starts. Read about our fireplace installation process, or see more of the Sentinel fireplace range.
Sentinel Ottawa Marvic 950 FAQs
Is the Marvic 950 too big for a normal lounge?
In a closed lounge of average size it will run hot. It suits large rooms and open-plan spaces best. If your lounge is smaller, our team can suggest a lower output model that still gives a wide view of the fire.
Can the Marvic 950 be built into a wall?
Yes, it can be installed inside a frame for a built-in look, as long as the surround allows correct ventilation and clearances. We design the frame and flue route together so the fire stays safe and efficient.
