The Sentinel Ottawa DS Tunnel is built for homes where one fireplace has to serve two spaces. Instead of a single front window, the firebox opens to both sides through cast iron doors, so the lounge and dining area share the same view of the flames. A log stand underneath lifts the fire to a comfortable viewing height and gives you a handy spot to keep dry wood close by.

A double-sided fireplace that divides a room
A tunnel design works well between two living areas, or in the middle of a large open-plan space. You can load and tend the fire from either side, which is practical when the unit stands away from a wall. It becomes the focal point of the room without blocking the flow between spaces.
Multi fuel flexibility
As a multi fuel fireplace, the DS Tunnel burns wood or coal. That gives you options when good hardwood is scarce, and coal is useful for a slow, steady burn late into the evening. The firebox is lined with vermiculite and fitted with a cast iron grate and removable ash pan, so cleaning out is quick.
Clean burning and clear glass
Primary and secondary air controls let you set the burn rate, while a pre-heated airwash helps keep both glass panels clear. A tertiary system burns off gases that would otherwise go up the flue, which helps the unit reach its 80% efficiency rating and means less fuel for the same warmth.

Can you light the DS Tunnel from both sides?
Yes. Each side has its own cast iron door, so you can load wood or coal from whichever room is more convenient. Most owners pick one side for daily use and keep the other side for viewing.
Is the Sentinel Ottawa DS Tunnel a good room divider?
It is one of the main reasons people choose it. The double-sided glass lets you see the fire from both rooms, and the log stand raises it to eye level when seated, so it works well between a lounge and a dining area.
What size flue does it need?
It takes a 150 mm flue from the top outlet. We measure your ceiling height and roof pitch on site so the flue draws well and the fire stays clean.
