Description
Some homes call for an elegance fireplace that looks like it has always been there. The Franco Belge Savoy Elegance is a traditional cast iron wood stove that suits farmhouse kitchens, older Cape homes and classic lounges, while giving 8kW of real, dependable heat for the coldest winter nights.
Franco Belge Savoy Elegance Features
Solid cast iron
The Savoy Elegance weighs 135 kg, and almost all of that is cast iron. Cast iron takes a little longer to warm up than steel, but once hot it releases heat slowly and evenly. The room stays comfortable for hours after the fire dies down, and you burn less wood to stay warm.
8kW of wood heat
An 8kW output is a good middle ground. It is strong enough for a decent sized lounge or open living area, yet you can run it on a lower burn on milder evenings without overheating the room.
Compact for its weight
The stove measures 40.7 x 53.5 x 66.3 cm, so it fits a standard hearth or the opening of an old fireplace. The 125 mm flue is slimmer than many stoves of this output, which keeps the flue run neat inside the room.
Classic styling
The Savoy line is known for its traditional lines and detailing, and the Elegance version brings that look into a modern home. It sits well beside wooden floors, exposed brick and period furniture.
Is the Savoy Elegance right for your home?
As a rough guide, stoves in the 8 to 10kW range suit a larger lounge or an open-plan area of about 70 to 120 m2 with a standard ceiling. Franco Belge does not give us a heating area figure for this model, so we check your space before you buy. High ceilings, big windows and draughty rooms all need more heat. Installation in Cape Town
Our team delivers and installs the Savoy Elegance with a 125 mm flue, cowl and roof flashing that stand up to Cape wind and winter rain. We also make sure the floor and hearth can carry 135 kg. Read more about our fireplace installation in Cape Town or see every Franco Belge fireplace we sell.
Savoy Elegance FAQs
Is the Franco Belge Savoy Elegance a wood only stove?
Yes, our spec lists wood as the fuel. Use dry, seasoned hardwood for the best heat and the cleanest glass, and avoid treated or painted timber.
Why choose a heavy cast iron stove?
Weight means thermal mass. A 135 kg cast iron body soaks up heat and keeps radiating it, so you get gentler, more even warmth than from a light steel box, and the room cools down far more slowly.
Will it fit in my existing fireplace?
Often, yes. It is 40.7 cm deep and 53.5 cm wide, so it can stand in front of or inside many older openings. We measure on site and line the chimney where needed.
