Description

The Franco Belge Savoy Classic is a classic fire in the true sense: a solid cast iron stove with traditional lines that looks just as good in a period home as it does in a modern lounge. It is a slow combustion wood stove, so it gives long, steady heat from each load and a clear view of the flames through its large window.

Franco Belge Savoy Classic Features

Solid cast iron

The body is cast iron and weighs 100 kg. That mass soaks up heat and keeps giving it back, so the room stays warm after the flames die down and you burn less wood.

Slow combustion control

Dual air controls with stainless steel knobs let you start the fire quickly, then turn it down for a slow, long burn. Good control means fewer trips to the woodpile and a more even temperature.

Big window, easy cleaning

A large clear glass window gives you an open view of the fire. Underneath, a large ash tray catches the ash so cleaning is quick and tidy.

Size and flue

The Savoy measures 40.9 x 53.5 x 70 cm and connects to a 125 mm flue, a standard size that keeps the installation simple. The savoy wood model burns logs; a multi-fuel version is available if you want more fuel choice.

Is the Savoy Classic right for your home?

With 6.5kW of output, a rough guide is a small to medium lounge of about 40 to 70 m2 with a normal ceiling. For an open-plan space or high ceilings, ask us about larger models. Compare it with the full Franco Belge range and other freestanding fireplaces. If you have an old open fireplace, our guide to the real costs of an open fireplace shows why many people switch to a closed stove like this cast iron fireplace.

Installation in Cape Town

Our team supplies and fits the Savoy with a 125 mm flue, cowl and roof flashing suited to Cape wind and winter rain, and handles compliance. Learn more about our fireplace installation in Cape Town.

Savoy Classic FAQs

Is the Franco Belge Savoy Classic a slow combustion stove?

Yes. It is a closed, slow combustion wood stove. You control the air supply, so it burns far longer and more efficiently than an open fire.

Can the Savoy Classic burn coal?

The standard model is for wood. If you want to burn other solid fuels, ask us about the multi-fuel version of the Savoy.
