Description
Slim, tall and unmistakably modern, the Plamen Trenk brings proper cast iron heating to rooms where a wide stove would look bulky. Its narrow rectangular body hides a deep combustion chamber, so you get a long, lively fire and plenty of warmth from a unit only 35 cm across the front of your hearth space. It suits both contemporary and traditional interiors.
Plamen Trenk Cast Iron Fireplace Features
Heat that lasts after the fire dies down
The Trenk is cast in thick, high-quality iron. Cast iron soaks up heat and keeps releasing it from the stove body long after you add the last log, which evens out the temperature in the room. A heavy baffle plate holds more heat in the firebox instead of losing it up the flue.
Three stages of combustion
Primary, secondary and tertiary air all play a part. A single dial controls the air supply, and some of the secondary air is routed over the glass as an air wash, so soot builds up far more slowly. The tertiary burn cuts emissions and lifts efficiency to 76%, so you get more from your firewood.

Is the Trenk right for your home?
Plamen rates the Trenk for 87 to 106 mΒ², which covers a medium to large lounge or an open-plan living area with normal ceilings. Very high ceilings or a lot of glass will lower that figure, so tell us about the room before you buy. Compare it with our other freestanding fireplaces if you are weighing up options.
Installation in Cape Town
Our team installs the Trenk with a 120 mm top flue, a cowl that handles strong wind and flashing sealed against winter rain, with compliance paperwork done for you. Read about our fireplace installation in Cape Town or browse all Plamen fireplaces.
Plamen Trenk FAQs
Why choose a Plamen fireplace in cast iron over steel?
Cast iron warms up a little slower but stores far more heat, so the room stays warm well after the flames settle. It also resists warping over many winters of heavy use.
Will the Trenk fit in a narrow space?
Its front is only 35 cm wide while the body runs 65 cm deep, so it suits alcoves, corners and narrow walls. Allow the required clearances to walls and furniture, which we confirm on site.
