Description
The Plamen Tara is the smaller sister of the Plamen Nera: a tall, round cast iron fireplace with a big window and a slim footprint. Its minimal shape makes it one of the easiest stoves to place in a corner, and at 84% efficiency it squeezes a lot of heat out of every log.
Plamen Tara Fireplace Features
Thick cast iron body
The Tara is cast from a thick mould of quality iron. It radiates heat from the whole body and keeps doing so long after you stop adding wood, which gives a gentle, even warmth through the evening.
Three stage combustion
Primary, secondary and tertiary air all play a part. The tertiary burn re-ignites gases that would otherwise go up the flue, so you get fewer emissions and better use of your wood. A thick baffle plate holds more heat in the stove. Part of the secondary air washes over the glass to keep the window cleaner.
One lever, easy control
A single air lever controls the fire, so there is no guesswork. Slide it to open or close the air and set the burn rate you want.

Is the Plamen Tara right for your home?
Plamen rates the Tara at 6 to 8kW for 58 to 77 m². That suits a medium to large lounge or a compact open-plan living area with a normal ceiling. Its round, narrow body makes it a smart corner fireplace where floor space is limited. See the alternatives in our freestanding fireplaces.
Installation in Cape Town
Our team supplies and installs the Tara with a 120 mm flue, cowl and roof flashing to suit Cape weather, and handles the compliance paperwork. Read about our fireplace installation in Cape Town or see all the Plamen fireplaces we stock.
Plamen Tara FAQs
Is the Plamen Tara 6kW or 8kW?
Both. It gives around 6kW at a normal burn and up to 8kW when you open the air and load it fully, so it covers a cool autumn evening as well as a cold July night.
Can the Tara go in a corner?
Yes. Its round, narrow shape was designed with corners in mind. We check the side clearances to walls and the flue route on site.
Where is the Tara fireplace made?
It is made by Plamen in Požega, Croatia, holds CE certification after EN testing, and Plamen backs it with a limited warranty of 2 years.
