Description
If you have a big living space and a cold Cape winter to beat, the Plamen Nera is built for the job. It is a tall, rounded cast iron wood stove with a generous window, and its narrow round body lets it stand neatly in a corner where a box-shaped stove would look bulky.
Plamen Nera Fireplace Features
Cast iron that keeps working
The Nera weighs 169 kg, and most of that is thick cast iron. Once warm, the body radiates heat into the room long after you add the last log, so the temperature stays even through the evening. A heavy baffle plate keeps more heat in the room instead of sending it up the flue.
Three stages of combustion
Primary, secondary and tertiary air help the fire burn its gases fully. That means fewer emissions, less wood used for the same warmth and an 81% efficiency rating. Part of the secondary air washes over the inside of the glass to keep the view clearer for longer.
Simple control and cleaning
One lever controls the air, so you can run a hot fire or a slow burn without fiddling. A slide-out ash pan makes cleaning easy, and a heat-resistant glove and a stoker come in the box. Made in Croatia, the Nera carries CE certification.
Size and flue
It measures 48 x 48 x 118.5 cm and uses a 150 mm top flue outlet.
Is the Plamen Nera fireplace right for your home?
Plamen rates the Nera at 12kW to 14kW for a heating area of 115 to 135 m2. That covers a large lounge, an open-plan kitchen and living area, or a room with a high ceiling. In a small room it would run too hot, so tell us your floor area and we will check the match. More sizes are in our freestanding fireplaces collection.
Installation in Cape Town
Our team installs the Nera with a 150 mm flue, a wind-rated cowl for Cape Town and flashing that holds up in winter storms, and we issue the compliance certificate. See how our fireplace installation service works, or explore other Plamen fireplaces.
Plamen Nera FAQs
Is the Plamen Nera a good corner fireplace?
Yes. Its round, slim body was designed with corner placement in mind, and it still gives a wide view of the flames. We check the safe distances to both walls when we measure up.
Where can I find a freestanding fireplace for sale in Cape Town like the Nera?
