The Northern Flame Vesta 70 Freestanding takes the popular Vesta 70 firebox and lifts it onto a powder-coated mild steel stand, so you get a modern wood fireplace that stands out in the room rather than in the wall. It is a 12kW wood fireplace with a wide glass front, and it is Eco-Design 2022 certified for cleaner burning.

A clean, modern look
The large Schott Robax ceramic window has an opaque black border that hides the frame, so all you see is the fire. The stand raises the flames to a comfortable height for viewing from the couch.
Cast iron inside for steady heat
Inside, a cast iron lining wraps the firebox and keeps storing and giving off heat after the fire dies down. With 77.50% efficiency, more of each log goes into heating the room and less is lost up the flue.

Size and weight

The firebox is the same. The freestanding model sits on a steel stand in the room and weighs more, while the built-in version goes into a cladded wall or chimney breast.
Why does it need a 200 mm flue?
The Vesta 70 is designed for a wide 200 mm flue to draw well at full output. We fit the correct size from the stove right up to the cowl.
