Description
The Northern Flame Kenna 82 is a modern built-in wood fireplace with a big picture window and very little fuss around it. The black-bordered Schott Robax glass gives a wide view of the fire, and the supplied convection box lets it slot into an old open hearth or a new wall with a clean finish. Imported from Greece, it is built for strength and long service.
Northern Flame Kenna 82 Features
Cleaner burning
The Kenna meets SIA Eco-Design 2022 for wood and smokeless fuel, and it carries CE certification. An eco-design fireplace like this burns more completely, so less smoke and fewer particles leave the chimney, and more heat stays in your home. Secondary combustion helps it use less fuel.
One lever, full control
One lever under the door sets the primary and secondary air plus the air wash. A double baffle of stainless steel and vermiculite keeps heat in the firebox for longer, and the vermiculite lining reflects hot air towards the glass to help keep it clean.
Practical touches
The door is hinged on the right as standard, and our team can swap it to the left. The handle is removable and stays cool, or you can fix it in place. The chamber takes 40cm logs, with a nominal fuel use of about 3.5kg per hour.
Options
An optional finishing frame neatens the edge of the opening, and an optional stand turns the kenna 82 built-in into a tall freestanding fire.

Is the Kenna 82 right for your home?
Northern Flame’s figures put it at about 125 m2, so it suits a large lounge or an open-plan living area. Among built-in fireplaces South Africa buyers ask us about, it is a popular eco-design choice. Send us your room size and photos of the hearth and we will confirm. Our Northern Flame review compares the range, and you can browse other built-in fireplaces.
Installation in Cape Town
As a wood fireplace insert, the Kenna needs a correctly sized opening, a 150 mm flue, a cowl that copes with Cape wind and flashing that keeps winter rain out. Our team handles all of it, plus the cladding and compliance. See our built-in fireplace design service and the full Northern Flame range.
Kenna 82 FAQs
Can the Northern Flame Kenna 82 go into my old open fireplace?
Yes, that is one of its main uses. The convection box allows a neat install without special masonry. We measure the opening and check the chimney before we quote.
Are eco-design stoves required in South Africa?
No, they are not compulsory here. Many of our clients still choose them because they burn cleaner, use less wood and produce less smoke for the neighbours.
