Description
If you have an old open fireplace that smokes, eats wood and barely warms the room, the Northern Flame Kenna 100 built-in is a smart replacement. It is a modern, minimalist wood insert with one wide glass window, designed to slot into a hearth and turn it into an efficient closed fire.
Northern Flame Kenna 100 Built-in Features
Made to upgrade an old hearth
As a built in fireplace insert, the Kenna 100 comes with its own convection box, so it can go into an existing fireplace opening without major masonry work. You keep the character of your fireplace wall and lose the draughts and smoke.
A wide view through Schott Robax glass
Schott Robax glass is a heat-resistant ceramic glass made for high fire temperatures. Here it has a black border that frames the flame neatly. The door can hinge from the right or the left, and the handle lifts off while the fire burns so it stays cool to touch.
Efficient, controllable heat
Secondary combustion burns the gases left over from the logs, giving more heat and cleaner glass, with 77% efficiency. One lever below the door sets the primary air, secondary air and airwash together. Heat reaches the room by radiation through the glass and convection from the box around it. Northern Flame lists it as SIA 2022 Eco-Design certified.
Size and flue
The unit measures 51.1 x 100 x 57.2 cm, weighs 147 kg and uses a 180 mm top flue. The firebox is lined with vermiculite.
Is the Kenna 100 built in right for your home?
With 15.2kW, Northern Flame rates it for about 146 m2, enough for a large lounge or an open-plan living area. We will measure your existing opening to make sure the 100 cm width fits. Compare other built-in fireplaces if you need a different size.
Built-in installation in Cape Town
Our team fits the insert, lines or replaces the flue to 180 mm, adds a cowl for Cape wind and finishes the surround in plaster, stone or tiles. Learn more about our built-in fireplace design and cladding service, and see more Northern Flame fireplaces.
