Wide, low and heavy, the Franco Belge Limousin is a cast iron stove for people who want a big fire to look at and plenty of heat to go with it. At 10KW it suits a large living room, and its broad shape makes it a strong focal point. As a wide wood fireplace it sits well in front of a chimney breast or on an open hearth.

Cast iron mass that holds heat
The Limousin weighs 160 kg, most of it cast iron. That mass takes a while to warm, then releases heat gently and evenly for hours. You get a comfortable room rather than short bursts of hot and cold.
A wide view of the flames
The stove measures 45.9 x 66 x 74.1 cm. That width allows a wide window onto the fire and room for longer logs, so you top it up less often.
10KW of wood heat
Ten kilowatts is enough to take the chill off a large lounge on the coldest Cape nights. Turn the air down once the fire is established for a slower, longer burn.
125 mm flue
It connects to a 125 mm flue, which we run up through the ceiling and roof in a neat matte black finish.
Is the Limousin right for your home?

Is a cast iron wood stove heavy to install?
It is heavy, but a normal concrete floor with a hearth plate carries it easily. Our team brings the right equipment to move it safely into place.
How do I keep the glass clean?
Burn only dry, seasoned wood and let the fire get properly hot before turning the air down. Wipe the glass when cool with a damp cloth dipped in fine ash.
