Description

The Kratki THOR 8 is a smart way to turn an empty lounge corner into a warm feature. This steel freestanding fireplace has glass that wraps around one corner, so it works as a corner fireplace tucked into the angle of two walls, stand against a single wall or sit in the open as a divider while still giving a wide view of the fire.

Kratki THOR 8 Fireplace Features

Corner glass with a clean frame

The glass edge is blackened and the frame is kept minimal, so the fire is the star. From most seats in the room you see both the front and the side of the flames, which makes the THOR 8 a strong design piece without taking up much floor.

A firebox that works harder

The body is made from thick steel and the combustion chamber is lined with Accumote, a highly refractory ceramic. It reflects heat and light back into the room and adds strength to the firebox over years of use.

Controlled, cleaner burning

Primary, secondary and tertiary combustion air, all with control, help the wood burn more completely. An air wash system sweeps air over the glass to reduce soot, a removable ash box makes cleaning quick, and there is an external air inlet for well-sealed homes. Kratki lists efficiency at 78%.

Flue and weight

The THOR 8 weighs 147 kg and takes a 150 mm flue from the top or the rear, which gives our installers more options when planning the route through your ceiling or wall.

Is the THOR 8 right for your home?

With an output of 5.5kW to 10kW, Kratki rates it to heat about 78 m2. That is a medium to large lounge, or a smaller open-plan area with a normal ceiling. Compare it with other freestanding fireplaces, or see how the range stacks up in our Kratki buyer’s guide.

Installation in Cape Town

Our team supplies and fits the THOR 8 with the right 150 mm flue, cowl and roof flashing for Cape wind and rain, and checks clearances to both walls when it goes into a corner. Read more about our fireplace installation service or browse the Kratki fireplace range.
