Description
Glass on three sides gives the Kratki NBC 8 a view of the fire from almost anywhere in the room. This built-in wood fireplace has a rise-and-fall door that slides up to load wood, then closes for an efficient, contained burn. It is a luxurious, modern centrepiece with 10kW of heat behind it.
Kratki NBC 8 3-Sided Fireplace Features
Three sides of glass
Instead of a single front window, the NBC 8 shows the flames to the front and both sides. It looks great in a peninsula wall or a feature wall in an open-plan space, where people sit at different angles to the fire.
Rise-and-fall door
The glass door lifts upward, so there is no door swinging into the room when you add wood. Air-wash keeps soot off the glass when burning dry wood.
Ceramic firebox, solid steel
The chamber is lined with Kratki’s heat-intensifying ceramics, with a drop-in base that holds a deep bed of coals. The steel body weighs 283 kg and measures 55.4 x 73.2 x 147 cm, with a top outlet for a 200 mm flue.
Is the Kratki NBC 8 right for your home?
Kratki rates the NBC 8 at about 140 to 225 m³ of heated volume, which suits a medium to large lounge or an open-plan room. Compare it with other units in our built-in fireplaces range, and see our Kratki buyer’s guide for more detail on each model.
Installation in Cape Town
A 3-sided unit needs careful planning of the surround, heat clearances and support for its weight. Our team handles the full built-in fireplace design and cladding, fits the 200 mm flue with a cowl and flashing for Cape wind and rain, and deals with compliance. More models are on our Kratki fireplace page.
Kratki NBC 8 FAQs
How do you clean a 3-sided fireplace glass?
Let the fire go out and the glass cool, then wipe the inside with a damp cloth dipped in fine ash or a stove glass cleaner. Burning dry wood with enough air keeps cleaning to a minimum.
Does the NBC 8 come with a warranty?
Yes. Kratki gives a 5-year warranty on its wood-burning fireplaces, and our team stays your contact for any service needs after installation.
Is the NBC8 heavy to install?
At 283 kg it needs a solid floor and a proper base. We check the floor and plan the build before we bring it in.
