Description
If you want a fire that looks part of the architecture rather than a stove standing in the corner, the Invicta Saphire 800 EXP is built for exactly that. It is a built-in wood fireplace in heavy cast iron that slots into a wall cavity, so the front sits flush and clean. A fan inside the unit moves warm air further across the room, which helps a big open-plan space feel evenly heated instead of hot by the hearth and cold by the windows.
Invicta Saphire 800 EXP Built-in Fireplace Features
Cast iron that stores heat
The 160 kg cast iron body warms through slowly and keeps giving off heat after the logs burn down. For a Cape Town winter evening that means a steady room temperature and fewer trips to the wood pile.
Fan assisted heat
The integrated fan is what sets the Saphire 800 apart from a plain cast iron insert. It helps carry heat out of the firebox and into the room, so a long lounge or a double volume space gets the benefit, not only the seats closest to the glass.
Output you can turn up or down
Nominal output is 12kW, with a working range of 8 to 16kW. Burn it low on a mild autumn night, or open it up when a cold front comes through. At 77% efficiency, more of the wood becomes usable heat and the burn stays cleaner.
Sized for a built-in opening
The unit measures 80 x 40.2 x 50.8 cm and takes a 200 mm flue from the top. The supplier lists it as Eco Design 2022 compliant and CE certified, and states a five year warranty once the unit is registered.
Is the Saphire 800 EXP right for your home?
The supplier rates the Invicta Saphire 800 EXP at 75 to 140 m², so it is a fit for larger lounges, open-plan living and dining areas, and new builds with generous ceilings. A small snug room would be too warm. Send us your floor size and a few photos and we will confirm it before you commit, or compare other built-in fireplaces in our range.
Installation in Cape Town
A built-in unit needs the opening, insulation and flue planned properly. Our team builds or adapts the cavity, runs the 200 mm flue with the right cowl and flashing for Cape wind and winter rain, and handles compliance. Saphire 800 EXP FAQs
Can the Invicta Saphire 800 EXP go into an existing fireplace?
Often, yes, if the opening is big enough and the chimney can take a 200 mm flue liner. We measure the existing opening and check the chimney on site, then tell you what building work, if any, is needed before we fit it.
What does the fan do?
The built-in fan helps circulate warm air away from the fire and into the rest of the room. It makes a real difference in long or open-plan spaces, where a fan-free insert tends to leave the far end cooler.
Does it burn coal or briquettes?
The supplier lists it as a wood burning fireplace, so seasoned hardwood is the fuel we recommend. Dry wood gives more heat, keeps the glass cleaner and protects the cast iron over time.
