Description
Traditional style and serious heat come together in the Kratki K9. It is a decorative cast iron wood fireplace with a large, curved glass window flanked by two smaller windows, so you see the fire from the front and the sides. With 13.5kW of output it is one of the bigger freestanding units in the Kratki range.
Kratki K9 Fireplace Features
Cast iron built for big rooms
The K9 weighs 165 kg, and most of that is cast iron. Like any good cast iron fireplace, once it is up to temperature that mass keeps giving off heat long after the flames settle, so a large room stays comfortable through the evening without constant reloading.
A clearer view of the fire
The curved front glass is heat resistant and swept by an airwash system, which helps keep soot off the window. The two side windows add to the glow and give the K9 its classic, decorative look.
Easy cleaning and safe handling
An ash drawer and removable grate make cleaning simple. The door uses a cold handle system, so you can take the handle off while the fire burns and keep it cool. A low decorative fence in front of the grate stops logs from rolling forward.
Size and flue
The body measures 77.5 x 54.9 x 69.9 cm and connects to a 150 mm flue. Make sure your hearth area allows enough clearance; we check this on site.
Is the Kratki K9 fireplace right for your home?
Kratki rates the K9 at roughly 220 to 325 m3 of heated space. That covers a large lounge, an open-plan living area or a room with a high ceiling. In a small room it will run too hot, so tell us your room size and we will advise. If you are comparing freestanding fireplaces for sale, see our full freestanding fireplace range.
Installation in Cape Town
Our team supplies and installs the K9 with a 150 mm flue, a cowl that handles the south-easter and roof flashing for winter rain, and we issue the compliance certificate. Read about our fireplace installation service, view the Kratki fireplace range or our Kratki buyer’s guide.
Kratki K9 FAQs
Is the K9 a bigger version of the K6?
Yes, it shares the same decorative styling as the K6 but with a larger firebox and more output, which makes it better suited to big living spaces.
How big a room will the Kratki K9 heat?
Kratki gives about 220 to 325 cubic metres. As a rough guide that is a large lounge or open-plan area. Glass walls and draughts reduce it, so we always confirm before you buy.
