Description
Raising a fire to eye level changes the whole feel of a room, and the Kratki JAS countertop is designed to do exactly that. This compact wood fireplace sits on a plinth, a built-up hearth or a solid counter, so you see the flames from the couch or the dining table. Behind the modern lines is a tough 4mm boiler plate steel body and a 10kW output.
Kratki JAS Countertop Fireplace Features
A firebox that glows
The combustion chamber and baffle are lined with white Accumote. It reflects warm light into the room, so even when only coals remain the fire still looks bright. The lining also protects the steel from warping and helps the fire burn well at the start and the end of a load.
Cleaner glass, better burning
Primary and secondary air controls let you manage the fire, and an air-wash system directs heated air across the glass to help keep it clear. The firebox takes logs of about 40 centimetres.
Compact countertop design
At 34.6 x 67.6 x 54.3 cm and 61 kg, the JAS is light enough to stand on a raised surface built to take the heat. A 150 mm flue leaves from the top for a clean, vertical run.
Is the Kratki JAS right for your home?
Kratki rates it at about 66 m2, which suits a medium lounge, a study or a compact open-plan room. For more options in the same style, see our freestanding fireplaces or read the Kratki fireplace buyer’s guide.
Installation in Cape Town
Our team can build the plinth or counter in a fire-safe finish, then install the stove with a 150 mm flue, cowl and roof flashing suited to Cape wind and rain. We take care of compliance too. Read about our fireplace installation in Cape Town or explore all Kratki fireplaces.
JAS Countertop FAQs
What surface can a counter top fireplace stand on?
It needs a non-combustible base such as brick, concrete or stone with the right clearances around it. We design and build the base so it is strong, safe and level before fitting the stove.
How much heat does the Kratki JAS countertop give?
It has a nominal output of 10kW and Kratki rates it for about 66 m2. That keeps a medium lounge comfortable through a Cape winter.
