Description

Planned into a new build, the Kratki Basia gives a home a serious heat source. This built-in wood fireplace delivers 17kW of heat behind a large glass door, so you get a generous view of the flames and enough output for a spacious living area. Kratki lines the inside of the chamber with its heat-intensifying ceramics, which lift the performance of the fire.

Kratki Basia Built-in Fireplace Features

Ceramic-lined firebox

The ceramic lining holds heat and keeps the firebox hot, so wood burns more completely. That gives you more heat from each load and less build-up of soot.

A large glass door

The wide door gives a clear, open view of the fire. Once the unit is built into your wall, the glass is the main thing you see, so the fireplace becomes the focal point of the room.

Steel build and practical size

The Basia is made from steel, weighs 133 kg and measures 79 x 78.2 x 76.1 cm. It uses a 200 mm flue from the top, which suits a straight run up through the roof.

Is the Kratki Basia right for your home?

Kratki rates it for a room volume of about 190 to 415 m³. That covers a large lounge, an open-plan living area or a double-volume space. In a smaller room, 17kW can be too much, so we will help you pick the right size. See more options on our Kratki page and in our built-in fireplaces range.

Installation in Cape Town

Because it is built into the structure, the Basia is easiest to install during a new build or major renovation. Our built-in fireplace design and cladding team plans the opening, insulation and cladding, and fits the 200 mm flue with a cowl and flashing for Cape wind and rain.

Kratki Basia FAQs

Can the Basia go into an existing home?

It can, but it takes more building work than a freestanding stove. We check the wall, floor and roof first and tell you honestly whether it is the best option.

Why does a Kratki fireplace use ceramics inside?

The ceramics reflect and store heat, keeping the firebox hotter. A hotter fire burns cleaner and turns more of the wood into useful warmth.
