Description
Round fireplaces bring a softer shape into a room, and the Kratki AB/S/2 does it with real presence. This steel wood fireplace has a cylinder shaped body and a curved, heat resistant glass window that wraps the view of the flames around the front. At 12kW it is built to heat a large space, not just to look good in one.
Kratki AB/S/2 Cylinder Fireplace Features
Cylinder design with curved glass
The curved window lets you see the fire from a wider angle than a flat door. In an open-plan room that means more people get to enjoy the flames, whether they sit in the lounge or at the dining table.
Strong heat for bigger rooms
As a 12kW wood fireplace, the AB S2 is suited to large lounges and living areas that a smaller stove would struggle to warm. The steel body heats up fast, so the room feels warmer soon after you light it.
Flexible flue options
The 150 mm flue can leave from the top or the rear. A rear exit is handy where the fireplace sits against an outside wall or connects into an existing chimney. The unit measures 76.1 x 46 x 105.2 cm and weighs 145 kg.
Is the AB S2 right for your home?
Kratki rates it for a heated volume of around 220 to 315 m³, which in most homes points to a large lounge or open-plan space. Very high ceilings or lots of glass mean you need more heat, so send us your room size and we will confirm the fit. Compare it with other freestanding fireplaces or the full Kratki fireplace range.
Installation in Cape Town
Our team supplies and installs it with a 150 mm flue, cowl and roof flashing that handle Cape wind and winter rain. We check floor loading for the 145 kg weight and sort out the compliance certificate. See our fireplace installation in Cape Town page or read our Kratki buyer’s guide.
Kratki AB/S/2 FAQs
Does a cylinder fireplace heat as well as a box stove?
Yes. Heat output depends on the firebox and burn control, not the outside shape. The round body also gives off warmth evenly to the front and sides of the room.
Can the AB S2 connect to my existing chimney?
Often, yes. The rear flue option helps here. We inspect the chimney first, then line it or run a new flue if needed.
How much space does it need?
The unit itself is 76.1 cm wide and 46 cm deep. You also need a non-combustible hearth and safe clearances to walls and furniture, which we measure on site.
