Description
The Hydrofire W5 Nova Wall Mounted fireplace lifts the fire off the floor and onto the wall, where it reads more like a piece of art than a stove. It is a cast iron wall mounted fireplace with a 10kW wood-burning output, and it leaves the floor clear for furniture, a rug or a clean minimalist look. For buyers who want a modern feature that still heats properly, the Nova Wall ticks both boxes.
Hydrofire W5 Nova Wall Mounted Fireplace Features
Off the floor, out of the way
A wall hung fireplace saves floor space and makes small or busy rooms feel larger. There is no bulky base to walk around and no hearth that takes up half the lounge. It also puts the flames closer to eye level, so you see the fire from the dining table as well as the couch.
Thick cast iron body
The Nova is made from cast iron, which heats up steadily and keeps radiating warmth after the fire dies down. It is a solid unit at 101 kg, which is why the wall and fixings matter (more on that below).
Efficient wood burning
Our spec sheet lists 74% efficiency. An open fireplace sends most of its heat up the chimney, while a closed cast iron fireplace like this keeps it in the room. That means fewer logs for the same comfort level.
Size and flue
It measures 55.3 x 39.2 x 65.1 cm and connects to a 160 mm flue at the top. The flue runs straight up through the ceiling, which keeps the installation clean and simple.
Is the Nova Wall right for your home?
Hydrofire rates the Nova at 10kW with a heating area of about 96 m2, so it suits a medium to large lounge or an open-plan living area. Double-volume ceilings or lots of glass will need extra thought. Compare it with other wall mounted fireplaces, or read our wall mounted fireplace buyer’s guide before you decide.
Installation in Cape Town
Hanging a 101 kg stove needs a solid wall, the right anchors and correct clearances, so we check the wall on site first. Our team then fits the 160 mm flue, a cowl and roof flashing that stand up to Cape wind and rain. Learn more about our fireplace installation in Cape Town and the wider Hydrofire range.
Nova Wall FAQs
Can any wall hold a wall mounted fireplace?
No. It needs a solid brick or block wall that can carry the weight. Drywall and thin partition walls are not suitable without extra structure. Our team inspects the wall and confirms the fixing method before we quote.
How much heat does the Hydrofire W5 Nova give?
It has a 10kW output and a heating area of about 96 m2. That is enough for most medium to large lounges in Cape Town. We will check your room size, windows and ceiling height to be sure.
