Description
Two Verta upgrades come together in one body: the Hydrofire Verta Pedestal Side Glass pairs the raised base with glass panels on the sides. The result is a fire that sits higher and shows more flame than any other Verta, while still running on the same efficient 8kW cast iron wood fireplace core. Few pedestal fireplace designs show this much of the fire.
Verta Pedestal Side Glass Features
The most open view in the range
Side panels let you watch the flames from the front and from an angle, and the pedestal lifts that view towards eye level. In an open-plan room the fire becomes the natural gathering point, whether people sit on the couch or at the table.
A neat square footprint
The base measures 43.4 x 43.4 cm and the unit stands 107.8 cm tall. That is smaller than the Verta Pedestal base, so this side glass fireplace takes up less floor while looking just as tall and elegant.
Cast iron that keeps working
The 165 kg body and the inner parts facing the fire are cast iron. It warms through steadily and keeps radiating heat once the logs burn down to coals, which means more comfort from less wood.
Clean burning, clear glass
Air enters at three levels: below the fire, across the glass and above the flames. That staged supply burns the wood more fully, cuts smoke and helps keep both the door and the side panels clear.
Where it sits among the Vertas
The standard Verta is the slim, low option with front glass. The Verta Pedestal adds the raised base only, and the Verta Side Glass adds side panels with a top or rear flue. This model has both the pedestal and side glass, with a top flue outlet only, so it suits homes where the flue can rise straight through the ceiling.
Is it the right size for your home?
Hydrofire rates it for rooms of about 50 to 95 m2, with an output range of 5 to 11kW around 8kW nominal. That is a good match for a medium lounge or modest open-plan space. Browse our freestanding fireplaces to compare.
Installation in Cape Town
We supply the 150 mm flue, hearth plate, cowl and flashing and install the lot to handle winter rain and strong wind. More on our installation service, or see the full Hydrofire range.
Hydrofire Verta Pedestal Side Glass FAQs
Does more glass mean less heat?
No. Output stays at 8kW nominal, the same as the other Verta models. The ceramic glass lets radiant heat through, and the cast iron body still stores and releases warmth as usual.
Can this model use a rear flue?
No, it has a top outlet only. If you need a rear connection into an existing chimney, the Verta Side Glass is the better fit, and our team can advise on site.
