Description
Lifting the fire off the floor changes how a room feels, and the Hydrofire Verta Pedestal does exactly that. The cast iron wood fireplace rests on a solid raised base, which brings the flames closer to eye level from the couch and gives the whole unit the look of a piece of sculpture. It is the Verta for buyers who want the fire to be the focal point of the lounge.
Hydrofire Verta Pedestal Features
A raised base with real presence
The pedestal design widens the footprint to 49.3 x 49.3 cm and the unit stands 107.5 cm tall. That square base looks balanced in the middle of a wall or in an open corner, and it keeps the glass well above floor level, which helps when there are small children or pets around.
Heavy cast iron, steady warmth
At 190 kg it is the heaviest model in the Verta line. The outer body and the parts inside the firebox are cast iron, so the stove builds up heat and keeps releasing it for a good while after the last log has burnt down.
Three air supplies for a cleaner fire
Air is fed in below the logs, across the inside of the glass and at the top of the firebox. Together they help the wood burn more completely, cut smoke and keep the window clearer between cleans. A solid handle makes opening and loading easy.
How it differs from the other Verta models
Compared with the standard Hydrofire Verta, which has a slimmer, shallower body that sits low, the Verta Pedestal fireplace trades depth for height and visual weight. It keeps front glass only and a top flue. If you want the raised look and a wider flame view, see the Verta Pedestal Side Glass instead.
Is the Verta Pedestal right for your home?
Hydrofire rates the 8kW Verta Pedestal for spaces of about 50 to 95 m2, which covers most medium lounges and smaller open-plan rooms. High ceilings or lots of glass reduce that, so send us your room size first. You can also compare our full range of freestanding fireplaces.
Installation in Cape Town
We supply and install the unit with a 150 mm flue from the top outlet, a hearth plate and a cowl and flashing chosen for Cape wind and rain. Learn more about our fireplace installation service or the full Hydrofire collection.
Verta Pedestal FAQs
Why choose a pedestal fireplace over a standard stove?
Mainly for looks and viewing height. The raised base puts the flames where you see them from a chair, and the stove reads as a feature rather than a box on the floor. Heat output is the same 8kW as the standard Verta.
Does the Hydrofire Verta Pedestal need a floor protector?
Yes. Like any wood fireplace it must stand on a non-combustible hearth or floor plate, with safe gaps to walls and furniture. Our team sizes and fits the hearth as part of the installation.
