Description
Tall, narrow and made of heavy cast iron, the Hydrofire Verta is built for homes where floor space is tight but winters still bite. It stands 107.8 cm high yet measures only 31.4 cm in depth, so it sits close to the wall without crowding a passage, a corner or a compact lounge. Behind that slim front you get a proper 8kW wood fire that keeps going through a long Cape Town evening.
Hydrofire Verta Cast Iron Fireplace Features
A slim footprint that still heats well
The base of the Verta covers just 31.4 x 43.4 cm, the smallest footprint in the Verta family. That makes it a good slim wood fireplace for townhouses, flats with a flue route and older homes with small alcoves. You lose very little floor and keep a strong, steady heat source.
Cast iron weight that stores warmth
At 185 kg, the body and the inner parts that face the fire are all cast iron. Cast iron soaks up heat while the fire burns and gives it back slowly once the logs have turned to coals, so the room stays comfortable for longer and you add wood less often.
Cleaner burning in three stages
Air reaches the fire at three points: underneath to start and feed the logs, over the glass to help keep the window clear, and higher up to burn off gases that would otherwise go up the flue as smoke. More heat from each load and less soot on the glass are the practical gains.
How the Verta differs from its siblings
This is the standard Verta: front glass only, a top flue exit and the slimmest body. The Verta Pedestal raises the firebox on a wider base, the Verta Side Glass adds glass panels on the sides for a wider view, and the Verta Pedestal Side Glass combines both. Pick the standard model when depth and space matter most.
Is the Hydrofire Verta right for your home?
Hydrofire rates this 8kW wood fireplace for rooms of about 50 to 95 m2, with an output range of 5 to 11kW depending on how you load and set the air. That suits a medium lounge or a modest open-plan living area. Compare it with our other freestanding fireplaces if you need more or less heat.
Installation in Cape Town
Our team fits the Verta with a 150 mm flue straight up from the top outlet, plus the right cowl and roof flashing to handle south-easters and winter rain. We also check hearth clearances and compliance. Read how our fireplace installation in Cape Town works, or browse the wider Hydrofire range.
Hydrofire Verta FAQs
Can the Verta fit in a small lounge?
Yes, that is what it was designed for. With only 31.4 cm of depth it fits where a wide box stove would not. You still need safe clearances to walls and furniture, and we measure those on site before you commit.
Which flue does the Verta fireplace use?
It takes a 150 mm flue from the top outlet. We usually run it straight through the ceiling and roof, or into an existing chimney when the chimney is sound and the route is safe.
Send a photo of your lounge through our contact page and we will come back with a quote for the Verta, flue and fitting.
