Description
A one-metre-wide fire window set neatly into the wall is what the Hydrofire Odyssey 100 gives you. It is a steel built-in fireplace that burns wood, so it saves floor space and turns a chimney breast or new feature wall into the main design point of the room. Behind the clean frame sits a powerful firebox rated from 8 to 17kW.
Hydrofire Odyssey 100 Built-in Fireplace Features
A wide, landscape flame view
The unit measures 1000 x 510 x 410 mm (W x H x D). That long, low shape gives a broad picture of the flames that suits modern lounges, TV walls and open-plan living areas, where a tall stove would look out of place.
High output with good efficiency
With a range of 8 to 17kW, the Odyssey 100 can tick over gently on a mild evening or run hard on a cold, wet July night. Hydrofire states 83% efficiency, which means more of each log goes into the room instead of up the flue.
Steel body that saves space
At 105 kg the steel firebox is far lighter than a cast iron stove of similar output, which makes building it into a wall more straightforward. Because it is recessed, the room keeps its floor space and the fire stays out of walkways.
Part of the Odyssey family
The Odyssey range comes in several widths and frame styles. The 100 is a good middle choice when you want a wide fire without the size of the biggest units. Our built-in fireplaces page shows the other sizes.
Is the Odyssey 100 right for your home?
Hydrofire rates it for roughly 75 to 150 m2, so it suits large lounges, open-plan homes and rooms with higher ceilings. In a small room it would run too hot unless kept low, so tell us your floor area and ceiling height first.
Installation in Cape Town
A built-in unit needs careful planning. Our team builds the surround or chimney breast with heat-safe materials, sets ventilation and clearances, and fits the 150 mm flue from the top outlet with the right cowl and flashing for Cape weather. Hydrofire Odyssey 100 FAQs
Can the Odyssey 100 go into my existing fireplace opening?
Sometimes. The opening must take the 1000 mm width and leave room for clearances and the flue. We measure your current fireplace and chimney and tell you whether it fits or needs some building work.
Is a built-in wood fireplace as warm as a freestanding one?
Yes, if it is sized and installed properly. This one reaches 17kW at full output, enough for very large rooms, and a well-built surround helps hold the heat in the space.
