Description
Looking for a lot of heat in a slim, modern shape? The Hydrofire Modena is an 11 to 18kW steel fireplace with a big front window, a minimal frame and a handy wood storage compartment below the firebox. It stands 86 cm tall on a 45.3 x 56.3 cm footprint and runs at 80% efficiency.
Hydrofire Modena Fireplace Features
Front glass only, and how it differs from the Modena Vision
The Modena has one large front window. Its sibling, the Hydrofire Modena Vision, has the same body, output and size but adds glass on both sides for a three-sided view. Choose the Modena if your fireplace will sit against a wall or in a corner where side glass would hardly be seen, and you would rather keep the cleaner, framed look.
Solid steel and a vermiculite firebox
The body is made from four millimetre steel. Inside, vermiculite lining reflects heat back into the fire for a hotter, cleaner burn. The firebox loads logs of about 30 centimetres, and a cast iron grate with a removable ash pan keeps cleaning simple.
Three-stage combustion and air wash glass
Primary, secondary and tertiary air work together to burn the wood and its gases more fully, which is how the Modena reaches 80% efficiency. It is Eco Design 2022 ready, like every current Hydrofire fireplace in this series. The air wash system sweeps air down the glass to keep it clearer for longer. Two external air controls with Teflon seals and a long chrome handle make it easy to run.
Is the Modena fireplace right for your home?
Hydrofire rates it for about 106 to 136 m2, a good match for a large lounge or an open-plan living space. The log store under the fire saves you a trip outside on a wet Cape night. For other sizes, see our freestanding fireplaces.
Installation in Cape Town
Our team supplies and installs the Modena with a 150 mm top flue, cowl and roof flashing suited to Cape wind and winter rain, and we deal with compliance. Find out more about our fireplace installation in Cape Town or explore the Hydrofire range.
