Description
The Hydrofire Titan double sided insert is the widest and largest model in our Hydrofire range, and it is built for big spaces. Officially the Hydrofire L9 DF Titan, it has classic cast iron styling, clean lines and glass on both the front and the back, so one double sided fireplace becomes the centrepiece of two rooms.
Hydrofire Titan Double Sided Insert Features
A true room divider
Set into a central wall, the Titan shows the flames to the lounge on one side and the dining or family room on the other. Because it is an insert, it sits inside the wall rather than taking up floor space.
Big output for big homes
Output runs from 14kW to 21kW, with a rated heating area of 85m² to 175m². That is enough for large open-plan living areas, double-volume rooms and homes where one fire needs to do the work of two.
Long logs, less chopping
The firebox takes logs of around 70 centimetres, so you can load big pieces of wood straight from the pile. Fewer refills and less cutting make winter evenings easier.
Heavy cast iron build
At 169 kg, this cast iron insert stores a lot of heat and releases it slowly. It measures 46 x 82.5 x 78 cm and connects to a 180 mm flue from the top.
Is the Titan right for your home?
With its 85m² to 175m² rating, it suits large homes and connected living spaces. In a small room it will run too hot. If you are weighing up options, our guide to heating two rooms with one fire helps, and you can compare models in our built-in fireplaces section.
Installation in Cape Town
A double sided built-in fireplace needs a well-planned wall, correct clearances, a 180 mm flue and a cowl that handles Cape wind. Our team designs and builds the surround, fits the flue and finishes the cladding. See our built-in design and cladding service or the full Hydrofire range.
Titan Double Sided FAQs
Can the Hydrofire Titan double sided heat two rooms?
Yes. Heat comes through both glass doors, so both rooms benefit. It works best when the two spaces are open to each other, so warm air can move freely between them.
Does an insert need a brick chimney?
It needs a flue, not necessarily a brick chimney. We build a surround around the insert and run a 180 mm flue up through the ceiling and roof, or use an existing chimney where it is safe.
