Description
The Hydrofire L5 Strasburg gives you the heat of a heavy cast iron stove with the clean look of a fire set into the wall. As an insert, it fits into a built-in surround or an old open chimney, so it takes up very little floor space while the large glass window keeps the fire on show.

All cast iron
The Strasburg is made entirely from thick cast iron. Cast iron takes heat in slowly and gives it back evenly, so your lounge stays warm long after the last log has burned down.
Self-cleaning glass
The big Pyrolitz glass window is designed to burn off soot as the fire runs hot, which means less scrubbing and a clearer view of the flames through winter.
Efficient heat
With 80.10% efficiency and an output of 10 to 12kW, it turns wood into useful heat instead of sending it up the chimney. That is a big step up from an open fireplace, which loses most of its heat.
Clean lines, compact body
The modern, clean front suits contemporary cladding as well as a traditional brick surround. The insert measures 39.5 x 55.3 x 65.1 cm and connects to a 150 mm flue from the top. It is imported from the Czech Republic and carries a 5 year limited guarantee.

Can the Strasburg go into my old open fireplace?
In many homes, yes. We check the size of the opening, the condition of the chimney and the flue route, then line it correctly so the insert draws well and runs safely.
Is the glass really self-cleaning?
It stays much cleaner than standard glass when you burn dry wood at a good temperature. Smouldering wet wood will still mark it, so a quick wipe now and then helps.
