Description
Glass on all four sides makes the Hydrofire L11 Vulcan Four Glass the centrepiece of any room it stands in. It is the flagship of the Hydrofire cast iron range: a 16kW wood fireplace with a wide combustion chamber, built for large homes where people gather around the fire from every direction.
Hydrofire L11 Vulcan Four Glass Features
A fire you see from every angle
Because it has four glass faces, the L11 Vulcan works as a room divider or island fire in an open-plan space. Guests in the lounge, dining room and kitchen all share the same view of the flames.
Large firebox, long burns
The unit measures 110 x 42.5 x 107 cm, and that width gives a generous combustion chamber for big logs. Fewer reloads and longer, calmer burns are the result.
Fully cast iron and built to last
This 190 kg cast iron fireplace uses castings made in Germany. It warms deeply and keeps radiating heat after the fire dies down. The unit is imported from Europe and carries CE certification, and Hydrofire covers it with a five-year warranty.
Power for big spaces
With 16kW on tap and 76% efficiency, this four sided glass fireplace can heat a large living area on its own. It uses a 180 mm flue, bigger than most domestic stoves, to match the size of the fire.
Is the L11 Vulcan right for your home?
Hydrofire rates it for about 153.5 m2, so it suits large open-plan homes, double-volume rooms and lodges. In a standard lounge it would be far too strong. Compare smaller options in our freestanding fireplaces range or read our Hydrofire buyer’s guide.
Installation in Cape Town
An island fire needs careful planning. Our team designs the hearth, sets clearances on all sides and fits the 180 mm flue from the top outlet with a cowl and flashing made for Cape wind and rain. Read about our installation service or see more Hydrofire fireplaces.
L11 Vulcan FAQs
Can the L11 Vulcan stand in the middle of a room?
Yes, that is where it shines. With glass on all four sides it is made to be seen from every angle. We plan a hearth large enough for safe clearances and run the flue straight up through the ceiling.
Why does the L11 Vulcan need a 180 mm flue?
A fire of this size moves a lot of smoke and gas. The larger flue gives it the draw it needs to burn cleanly and stops smoke from spilling into the room when the door opens.
