Description
Big open-plan rooms are hard to heat, and that is exactly where the Henley Sherwood 12 earns its place. This 12kW wood fireplace pairs a compact steel body with a high heat output, so one unit can warm a large living area without dominating it. It is one of the stronger Henley fireplaces we install, and it stays simple to run.
Henley Sherwood 12 Wood Fireplace Features
Plenty of heat from a small body
At 39 x 54 x 63 cm and about 63 kg, the Sherwood 12 is smaller than most units with this much output. That makes it easier to place in a corner or on a modest hearth while still giving you a 12kW wood fireplace that can cope with a cold, wet Cape winter.
Clean glass and a cleaner burn
An airwash system sweeps air down the inside of the glass, so soot has less chance to settle and you keep a clear view of the flames. A tertiary air supply feeds extra oxygen high in the firebox, burning off gases that would otherwise go up the flue as smoke. Henley lists the efficiency at 77%, so more of every log ends up as heat in the room.
Flexible flue and external air
The 150 mm flue can exit from the top or the rear, which helps when a ceiling beam or a wall is in the way. The stove is also external air ready. In a well-sealed modern home you can draw combustion air from outside, and in an older house it works perfectly well as a standard stove.
Is the Sherwood 12 right for your home?
Henley rates the heating area at about 115 m2, which suits a large lounge, an open-plan kitchen and living space, or a room with a high ceiling. In a small lounge it would run too hot, so a lower output model may suit you better. Browse our freestanding fireplaces or the full Henley Stoves range to compare sizes.

Sherwood 12 FAQs
Is the Henley Sherwood 12 too big for a normal lounge?
For a closed lounge of 30 to 40 m2 it will usually be too strong, and you would end up running it on low, which dirties the glass. It is best for larger, open spaces of around 115 m2.
What does external air ready mean?
It means the stove can take its combustion air through a duct from outside instead of from the room. That helps in airtight homes and keeps draughts down. Using it is optional.
Can the flue go out the back?
Yes. The Sherwood 12 has a top or rear flue outlet, so we choose the route that suits your ceiling, roof and wall layout during the site visit.
