Description
The Henley Druid DS 14 is built for homes where one fire needs to serve two spaces. Both faces have opening doors, so the stove can stand between a lounge and a dining room, or in the middle of an open plan area, and be lit and stoked from either side. With 14kW on tap, it has the muscle for large rooms.
Henley Druid DS 14 Double Sided Features
Doors on both sides
Most double sided stoves only let you load from one face. The Druid has a working door on each side, which makes it far more practical as a room divider. You can add wood from whichever room you happen to be in.
Steel body, cast iron doors
The body is high grade steel and the doors are heavy cast iron. Steel heats up quickly when you light it, while the cast iron doors seal well and stand up to years of daily use. Cool to touch handles make loading safer.
Cleaner, more efficient burning
A double combustion system burns the gases that a basic stove would send up the flue, which gives more heat from each log and less smoke. Henley rates it at 74% efficiency.
Outside air option
The Druid can draw combustion air straight from outside the building instead of through a vent in the room. That helps in modern, well sealed homes and keeps draughts down.
Size and flue
It measures 62.8 x 59 x 54.1 cm, weighs about 150 kg and takes a 150 mm top flue.
Is the Druid right for your home?
Henley rates this 14kW wood fireplace for about 134 m², so it suits a large lounge, an open plan living area or two connected rooms. Our article on what you get with a double sided fireplace covers layout and clearance tips, and you can compare other freestanding fireplaces if your space is smaller.
Installation in Cape Town
Our team supplies and installs the Druid with a 150 mm flue, a cowl that copes with Cape wind and sealed flashing for winter rain, plus an outside air kit if needed. We handle compliance too. See our fireplace installation in Cape Town or browse every Henley fireplace we stock.
Henley Druid DS 14 FAQs
Can I load the Henley Druid from either side?
Yes. Both sides have opening doors, so you can add logs and adjust the fire from either room. Only open one door at a time to keep smoke in the firebox.
Does a double sided fireplace need its own air supply?
Not always, but it helps. The Druid can take air from outside through a dedicated duct, which we recommend in well sealed homes or rooms with extractor fans.
