Description
The Dovre Vista 700 is a built-in insert for homes that already have a brick fireplace but want far more heat from it. An open fire loses most of its warmth up the chimney. The Vista closes the opening with a sealed cast iron unit and glass door, so the wood burns slowly and cleanly and the heat stays in your lounge.
Dovre Vista 700 Built-in Fireplace Features
Cast iron body
Dovre has a long name for cast iron heaters, and the Vista 700 follows that tradition. Cast iron warms evenly and keeps giving heat after the fire burns down, so the room stays comfortable for longer.
Cleaner, more complete burning
The unit uses secondary combustion, burning off gases that an open fire would send up the chimney as smoke. Dovre lists an efficiency of 83 percent, which means less wood for the same warmth.
Fan assisted heat
A built-in ventilator pushes warm air out into the room, helping the heat reach further than a radiant-only insert. It runs on a normal household plug point.
Your choice of finish
Inside, you can choose slatted cast iron or vermiculite lining. On the outside, Dovre offers a slim or a wider frame to suit the surround.
Specifications at a glance
It is rated at 10kW, takes a 150 mm flue from the top, weighs about 95 kg and measures 44 x 69 x 49 cm. It takes logs of up to half a metre.
Is the Dovre Vista 700 right for your home?
Dovre rates it to heat a space of about 200 cubic metres, roughly a 75 to 80 square metre lounge at a normal ceiling height. Compare it with other built-in fireplaces or read our Dovre fireplace guide.
Installation in Cape Town

Dovre Vista FAQs
Will the Dovre 700 fit my existing fireplace?
It is made to go into an existing open fireplace, but the opening must be big enough and the chimney sound. We measure on site and confirm before you order.
Does the Vista 700 need power?
The fire itself burns without power, but the built-in fan needs a plug point to circulate warm air. Without power it still gives radiant heat through the glass.
