Description
Soft ivory and a classic shape make this stove feel like it has always been part of the room. The Dovre Classic 640 WD E8 in ivory (often listed as the Dovre Classic 640 WD ivory) has that timeless shape, with a soft ivory finish that suits farmhouse kitchens, period homes and light, airy lounges. Underneath is a heavy cast iron wood fireplace that heats properly.
Dovre Classic 640 Ivory Fireplace Features
Cast iron that holds heat
The Classic 640 weighs 180 kg, almost all of it cast iron. That mass takes in heat as the fire burns and gives it back slowly, so the room stays warm long after the last log. You reload less and get fewer swings between too hot and too cold.
A softer colour
An ivory fireplace brings warmth to a room even when it is not lit. It works against white walls, exposed brick, natural stone and wood floors, and gives a gentler look than a black stove.
Flexible output
With an output of 7.5KW-10KW, you can run the fire gently on mild autumn evenings and turn it up on cold, wet July nights.
Size and flue
The fireplace measures 56.5 x 66 x 76 cm and connects to a 150 mm flue. It needs a non-combustible hearth and safe clearance to walls, which we check on site.
Is the Classic 640 right for your home?
As a rough guide, 7.5 to 10kW suits a lounge of about 70 to 120 m2 with a normal ceiling. High ceilings, big windows or a draughty older house all need more heat, so send us your room size and photos. Compare it with our other freestanding fireplaces or read our Dovre fireplace guide.
Installation in Cape Town
Our team supplies and installs the Classic 640 with a 150 mm flue, a cowl that copes with the south-easter and flashing for winter rain, and hands over a compliance certificate. See our fireplace installation in Cape Town or the full Dovre range.
Dovre Classic 640 FAQs
Does the ivory finish change colour with heat?
Normal use should not change the colour. Avoid over-firing the stove and clean the surface only when it is cold, with a soft damp cloth and no abrasive cleaners.
Can it be installed in an old chimney?
Often yes. We inspect the chimney, fit a 150 mm liner or flue connection and make sure it draws properly before handing over.
