Description
If you love the look of a traditional stove, the Dovre Classic 250 deserves a place on your shortlist. It is a compact cast iron fireplace with timeless lines, and because it burns more than one fuel, you are not stuck when good firewood runs short in July.
Dovre Classic 250 Cast Iron Stove Features
Solid cast iron construction
Cast iron takes a little longer to warm up than thin steel, but it then keeps radiating heat for a long time after the flames drop. At 79 kg, the Classic 250 has enough mass to give the slow, comfortable warmth people expect from a proper cast iron multi fuel stove.
Multi fuel flexibility
Being a multi fuel unit, it burns wood as well as other approved solid fuels. Our team will explain which fuels work best for you and how to set the air controls for each one, so you get a clean burn and clear glass.
Compact size, traditional style
It measures 40.5 x 45.5 x 56 cm, which makes it a neat fit for a smaller lounge, a cottage or an older home with a modest hearth. You get the glow of a classic fire without the draughts and smoke of an open grate, and it connects to a standard 125 mm flue.
Is the Classic 250 right for your home?
With 4.9kW of output, it is best for a small to medium room. As a rough guide, that is about 30 to 50 m2 with a normal ceiling height, so think den, study, bedroom or compact lounge. For bigger spaces, browse the rest of our freestanding fireplaces.
Dovre installation in Cape Town
Our team supplies and installs the stove with a 125 mm flue, a cowl that handles strong wind and flashing that keeps winter rain out, and we take care of the compliance certificate. Classic 250 FAQs
Is the Dovre Classic 250 a wood or multi fuel stove?
It is a multi fuel stove, so it can burn wood and other approved solid fuels. Most of our Cape Town customers burn seasoned hardwood in it, which gives a lovely flame picture and clean glass when the wood is properly dry.
Can I replace my open fireplace with it?
Usually, yes. We can stand it on the hearth in front of the old opening and connect it to the existing chimney, or run a new 125 mm flue. A closed stove sends far more of the heat into the room than an open fire does.
How heavy is the Classic 250?
It weighs 79 kg. That is manageable for our installers and fine for most floors on a proper hearth plate, but we always check the floor and the hearth area on site before we fit it.
