Description
Built for large homes and open living areas, the Carbel RI-80 Double Sided puts a wide fire on show from two directions. Carbel makes it in mild steel with an anthracite grey finish, and this no-fan version relies purely on radiant heat, so it runs silently and keeps working with the power off.
Carbel RI-80 Double Sided Features
A fire for two spaces
As a double sided fireplace, the RI-80 can sit on the line between lounge and dining room, or stand in the centre of an open plan. Both sides get the view, and both get warmth.
Heat without fans
The no-fan model has no motor to hum and nothing to stop during load shedding. The steel body radiates heat straight into the room, which is all most homes need from a fire this size.
Plenty of power
At 16kW, the Carbel RI 80 is one of the stronger units we install. It suits big rooms, high ceilings and the cold, wet spells of a Cape winter. It measures 83 x 47 x 62 cm and connects to a 150 mm flue from the top.
Is the Carbel RI-80 right for your home?
Carbel gives a heating area of about 153.5 m2. That makes it a 16kW wood fireplace for large open-plan homes, double-volume spaces and linked rooms. In a small lounge it would be too hot. Our guide to heating two rooms with one fire helps you plan the position, and you can compare other freestanding fireplaces too.
Installation in Cape Town
Our team supplies and installs the RI-80 with a 150 mm flue, cowl and roof flashing that suit Cape wind and winter rain, and we look after the compliance certificate. Read more about our fireplace installation in Cape Town, or browse the full Carbel fireplace range.
Carbel RI-80 FAQs
What is the difference between the fan and no-fan RI-80?
The fan version uses an electric fan to push warm air further into the room. The no-fan model relies on natural radiant heat, so it is silent, needs no power point and still heats strongly.
Can a double sided fire go against a wall?
It is designed to be seen from two sides, so it works best in an open space or a divider wall. We check clearances and the flue route on site before recommending the best spot.
How much space does the RI-80 need?
The unit is 83 cm wide and 47 cm deep, plus safe clearance to furniture and a non-combustible hearth. We measure your room and mark it out so you can picture it first.
